Tutoring Style and/or Experience
In tutoring, it is a challenge to keep a student in focus on what they are learning. What I usually do is have a small talk and I ask what they like to do. After that, I go on the topic. Sometimes, we stay on one topic until the student finally understood the subject. I want my student to be at ease with me while having class, hence more like a friend rather than a tutor so they can express what they really feel.
