Tutoring Style and/or Experience

I tailor my tutoring to the needs and abilities of the student. I believe homework help to be of utmost importance, helping the student think about the solution in the right way, without actually doing the entire problem for them. Students just need to be pointed in the right direction as I help them understand difficult concepts taught in class. As a tutor I am not able to be there when the student takes tests so concepts must be concrete in the student's mind. Still, homework is completed and in a timely fashion.

I also stress attention to detail. I have found that many students know the material going into a test after being tutored. They just miss a detail or two which on certain kinds of tests such as multiple choice makes the entire answer wrong. On other tests partial credit is nice but usually won't be enough for an A or even a B.

Lastly, I encourage students to always check their answers. Especially while the problem is still fresh in their minds. This isn't always feasible due to time constraints, but is the only way in obtaining the right answer when the problem is initially answered incorrectly.
