My education, previous employment and personal background includes experiences with children and students of all ages and abilities, including preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, adults, special needs, at-risk, ESL/ENL and five unique children of my own. I have extensive training in the Spanish language in the forms of twenty-two college credits, missions trips to Mexico and Honduras and teaching in a school of primarily Hispanic students. My philosophy of teaching art is based on the assumption that every student possesses artistic abilities and talents and it is my responsibility to help them discover what they are. I make it my goal as an art educator to expose students to as many art disciplines and experiences as possible in my coursework and integrate as many standards from core subjects into the art curriculum as I can in order to form as many meaningful cross-curricular connections as possible. I have dedicated many hours of tutoring and remediation to struggling students in grades one through twelve, one-on-one and in small groups, both in person and online in order to ensure their continued academic success.
