Tutoring Style and/or Experience
I have tutored and taught numerous subjects in formal and informal settings for the past eight years. I have great references upon request! I have been trained formally to teach/tutor the SAT and have held over ten classes on this subject. During high school, I taught myself the ACT material (and received a score of 32 on the test). I have taught algebra, geometry, biology and physics to students of all ages through the online tutoring site, Tutor.com. I have also tutored numerous college students, including ESL students, in basic writing courses. I speak conversational Spanish and have taught this as well.
My approach to tutoring is a specific focus on the concepts, rather than the problems. Problems will be given as examples, but the concepts are the fundamental buildings blocks. I keep the sessions fun for the students and try to keep the session from being too intense while accomplishing the work in the necessary time.
