Tutor Personal Information

I graduated from Taylor university this May '08 with a degree in Elementary Education. I have extensive experience tutoring children ranging from Kindergarten up through 7th grade. I also have substitute taught at Upland Elementary K-6 this past spring. Childcare has been my primary home-based employment since I was a junior in high school. I can work with any elementary subject, and I offer Spanish tutoring (as I have taken many classes and am quite proficient).

A tutoring session with me does not entirely take place sitting at a desk. I incorporate and endorse using all styles of learning. I have been known to cut cakes to learn about fractions, play ping pong to practice for a test and take a trip to the playground to learn more in depth about human health. Fun but effective learning is my policy. Students under my tutelage have achieved better grades by at least one level (most by more) and yet still want to attend tutoring lessons because they are so fun!

Through extensive travel and international experience, I like to integrate different aspects of world cultures into lessons. Children can learn about international currencies while or after learning how to use our own. International awareness is an invaluable virtue and this is integrated often.
