Textbooks are the primary tool for instruction in any subject; however, they rarely do more than introduce material, leaving the burden of comprehension on the student. That is where the tutor comes in. My goal is to serve as the interface between you, the student, and the textbook: to ensure you gain a deep, conceptual understanding of the material, which will enable you to apply your knowledge to any related problem - not just ones similar to those you have studied. By focusing on conceptual understanding - not memorization - you will have the skills necessary to significantly improve your performance. I tutored for 4 years during college, as a cadet at the US Military Academy. It involved numerous students in a variety of college level math courses. Most of my sessions were 1 on 1, and were 1-2 hours in duration. I also have experience tutoring high school and middle school level material.
I am a graduate student at the University of Illinois in a mathematics program.
