I specialize in ADD/H and tutor/coach ADD/H kids exclusively. Parental coaching is also available.
ADD/H is a misnomer. Children diagnosed with ADD/H are as normal as their peers. The traits used to describe ADD/H kids are NORMAL for a segment of the population. It is normal for some people to be easily distracted; it is part of who they are.
ADD/H kids think differently and are often misunderstood. I know how they think and I understand them because I am also ADHD. I have experienced the discrimination against kids who do not perform well in a classroom setting.
ADD/H kid’s natural talents are often discouraged, and they are encouraged to become something they are unable to become…a duplicate of the kids who perform well in school. As a result society loses out on the best these children have to give. Not to mention the damage it does to the essence of who your child is.
Just as some flowers thrive in sun and some in shade; different kinds of kids thrive in different types of environments. We do not expect all flowers to thrive in the same environment; why do we continue to try to get all kids to thrive in the same environment? We have generations of evidence that trying to change ADD/H kids usually does not help them, and it often harms them.
Everyone is able to thrive given the proper environment. Albert Einstein was not able to thrive in a classroom. In today’s world he would be labeled ADHD. If he couldn’t succeed in a classroom, why would we expect an average child to? And who knows if Einstein would have ever “become anything” had he been fed Ritilin and forced to sit in a classroom...
I customize learning environments to your child’s needs. Their unique talents are nurtured.
Parental coaching is recommended. Most parents buy into the idea that ADD/H is a disorder. Your child does think differently than most of his/her peers. Thinking “outside of the box” is not a disorder. It should be valued and embraced. I will help you to understand how your child thinks.
I am available for consultations with schools.
Your child will be taught the things he/she needs to know in a way that they can understand.
