I like to begin tutoring by discussing, either with the parent(s), student or both, the key areas that are in need of improvement. I would be interested in assessing the students abilities in the target areas and possibly speaking with his/her teacher if possible and establishing goals for our time together. I am very flexible - whether the client wants 1 session or 20. We can focus on homework based tutoring, using the students textbooks, assignments, etc. or I can teach the student subject area basics and skills.
