Tutoring Style and/or Experience
I am a former UC Berkeley and Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate student, who recently received a Masters in Chemistry degree. I have 5 years of teaching experience as a GSI (graduate student instructor) or TA (teaching assistant) for college level pre-med chemistry courses (such as Chem 3A and 3B at UC-Berkeley). I have a passion for science and for teaching, thus, I am anxious for the opportunity to assist students in meeting their educational goals. I am charging a rate of $30/hour for 2 hours/week commitment. This can be negotiable. I am currently located in the Claremont area of Oakland/Berkeley, but I am willing to travel to the rest of the Bay Area.

| After receiving my masters degree in Chemistry in the Fall of 2007, I applied to and received admission into the Oakland Teaching Fellows program, which places teachers in high need schools in the Oakland metro area. I have been awarded a position as a general science/chemistry teacher in the Oakland Unified School District for the Fall of 2008. During this interim, I am looking for tutoring opportunities. My post-secondary education has been highly decorated as I am a United States Presidential Scholar, National Merit Semifinalist, Barry M. Goldwater Excellence in Science Fellowship Winner, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society member, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society member, Who's Who among American Colleges and Universities recipient, and a Golden Key Honor Society member. In high school I was class valedictorian, Star Student (for overall ACT score) and was a International Science Fair Finalist for four years. |
