I first ask the student to demonstrate to me how they would solve the problem or write the paper. I am able to learn exactly where the struggling student needs help. Then i takle the problem by teaching him or her step by step the procedures and instructions. Next I ask the student to either demonstrate solving the problem again with the new knowledge. This will let me know if the student got it. I like to use exercises over and over to reinforce the students success.
