I was a stay-at-home mom, taught pre-school for five years and worked as a substitute teacher prior to that.

I always begin with an assessment of a student's strengths and weaknesses. Every student wants to be successful, so I begin by building on what the child knows. I also try to determine the student's dominant learning style; visual, auditory or kinesthetic, and gear personalized instruction to that. It also helps to have a sense of humor!
