Tutor Personal Information

I am certified in Secondary English, and all level M.R. Special Ed (from Univ. of Texas at Austin). I have taught a wide variety of people in a wide variety of situations. I started in special education teaching emotionally disturbed, mentally retarded adults, then cared for very young children, then taught adults in Workplace Literacy and English As a Second Language for a pilot Sylvan program, then taught English as a Second Language to late teens and adults in a combined ESL and GED prep program, sometimes teaching ESL and sometimes GED, in small classes, and recently tutored two exceptionally gifted home-schooled children in the same family, while working with their mother to determine what teaching methods worked best for each of them. I continued in this project from March of one year to May of the following year. I currently work at a living history museum, giving demonstrations and talks to groups of students and the general public, and am tutoring ESL in a community literacy program.
