Tutoring Style and/or Experience
My tutoring style can vary based on the student's needs but I generally use the
following approach. First, I try to determine if the student's difficulties are
due to a lack of understanding of the fundamentals of the topic. If so, I
review these with the student until they are comfortable with their understanding.
Secondly, if the difficulties stem from a lack of problem solving skills, I will
work with them on strategies for how to frame the statement of a problem in a
way that focuses on their understanding of the fundamentals of the topic.
My experience is with teaching, tutoring, and testing undergraduate
physics students as well as math and physics students at the high school
level.
