Subjects tutored:
Statistics, Math (through Calculus), Psychology, Research Methods, Physics, Chemistry
Background:
I completed my undergraduate degree in physics and psychology at Rice University. I also earned a Grades 8-12 teaching certificate in math and physical sciences. After teaching AP Calculus and Chemistry, I went to graduate school at the University of Michigan. At Michigan, I earned a master's degree in statistics and a Ph.D. in social psychology. After spending a few years as a biostatistician for a pharmaceutical company, I recently moved over to a role in drug development strategy.
Tutoring/teaching experience:
In high school and during a college summer, I tutored statistics, math, and many other courses at a community college.
At Rice University, I was a teaching assistant for a physics course, and I also made digital videos of solutions to physics problems. For my teaching certificate, I designed a taught two high school summer courses: Physics of NASA and Psyched About Math - an introduction to statistics and research methods for psychology. After graduation, I taught AP Calculus and Chemistry in a Houston high school.
At Michigan, I led a Social Psychology discussion section and held office hours for a graduate statistics course for psychology students. I also designed and taught an applied statistics course, to help students who had already taken Stats 101 learn how to 'do statistics'. As a statistics consultant, I helped a number of students with analyses for thesis/dissertation work, papers, and class projects.
Since graduate school, I have taught Introduction to Psychology at Mercer Community College, and Introduction to Statistics and Research Methods for psychology majors at TCNJ.
