I try to help the student get the most out of the hour-long session by being prepared ahead of time for the subject matter to be covered during the session. I believe that children should be guided to gain knowledge and skills, but not given all the answers. This gives the child an opportunity to begin thinking in new ways that may not be possible in a school setting due to the number of children present in the classroom. Someone else always seems to know the answers, when in a group environment. However, while being tutored, the highlight of the session would be on the child exclusively. This will build self confidence as the child's academic abilities are nurtured and the child begins to realize his or her potential.
