Tutoring Style and/or Experience

My experience is very broad in working with elementary, middle school, high school and college students. My elementary teaching experience has been gained through Scouting as a Den Leader for the past 6 years and Coach (Basketball -1yr and Swimming -5yrs). We have two children, ages 9 and 12 and have taught, coached and mentored them and their peers in various skills.

My middle school experience is very similar to my elementary student experiences in that I am currently an Asst. Scoutmaster and Patrol Adviser for a group of 8 to 10 (12 and 13 yr old) young men. I am also involved with high school students in a similar manner.

My college teaching experience includes teaching physical geology classes to over 125 undergraduate students of all backgrounds. I also tutored my fellow geology classmates while as an undergraduate and graduate school.

On a personal note, while in elementary school I was diagnosed with a learning disability (auditory, ADHD). So, I understand, first hand, the frustration that many children with LDs and ADHD face on a daily basis. In my years of experience with students of all ages, patience and esteem building activities are the keys to success.
