Do you or your student need extra help with English reading or writing? I am available for one-on-one tutoring with students of all ages. I have a positive, encouraging, energetic personality, and I love to help students achieve their highest potential.

I am certified to teach English by the South Carolina Department of Education, and I currently teach students in grades 9-12 at St. James High School. I am well-equipped and experienced in preparing students for the English portions of the SAT/ACT/MAP/EOC/HSAP.

I work with gifted elementary and middle school students every year through the Horry County Summer Scholars program. I work with struggling students throughout the year using Scholastic’s Read 180 intensive reading program.

I attended North Carolina State University, where my undergradate major was “language, writing, and editing,” and my graduate major was “rhetoric and composition.” I have college-level teaching experience at N.C. State and Horry-Georgetown Technical College.

I have tutored with Sylvan Learning Centers, and I have taught ESL courses to children and adults. As a former newspaper editor, I am well-versed in the finer points of grammar and style.

I have access to engaging print resources, software, and technology at the cutting-edge of reading and writing instruction. I am a member of the Horry County Schools Tech-Savvy Task Force, teaching fellow educators about how to incorporate technology into their curricula.

I will come to your home or meet at a public library or school in Myrtle Beach, Socastee, Carolina Forest, Forestbrook, Surfside Beach, Murrells Inlet, or Garden City. I am available after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on Saturdays.
