Tutoring Style and/or Experience

As a tutor, I look forward to teaching driven students who wish to perform to the best of their abilities in whatever material they study at the time. I appreciate a student who is not only enthusiastic, but also not afraid to make mistakes. However, I also understand how struggling in school can be a sensitive subject for some students; therefore, I strive to be patient and understanding while working with my students. In regards to my tutoring strategies, I believe the main goal is that my students really grasp the material and not simply memorize rules and formulas. Because I am a very organized student myself, my tutoring sessions will consist of a detailed study plan consisting of verbal and written spanish activities. There is, however, a great deal of flexibility based on the goals of my students (ie. whether or not he or she wishes to speak spanish fluently or read and write the language).

For 3 years in high school I tutored fellow students in various subjects: biology, chemistry, spanish, and english. During this time, I considered my students' improvement my highest priority during my tutor sessions and I was committed to each and everyone. I have also dedicated 2 years of my college experience to a club which strives to mentor and improve the lives of children from 3-18 years of age who live in an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. This experience has greatly improved my spanish skills along with my student-to-teacher relations.

I look forward to teaching anyone who would like to improve his or her spanish skills as spanish is a great passion of mine!
