One of the areas that I feel that students have the most trouble with, is the understanding of underlying Concepts. In other words, I feel that teachers fall into a habit of having students memorize information in order to pass tests. While this may work for some classes and for a short period of time, a solid base in knowing why something works the way it does, is essential for continued success. My general tutoring plan goes as follows: Find the students weakness, understand what the teacher is asking, and assist in the understanding of why an answer makes sense. This allows the student to take what they have learned and apply it to their studies and more.
