As a teaching student and an artist, I want my students to learn and appreciate art and its history. It is my conviction that art is a subject worth knowing. I want my students to come away with a better understanding of the many forms art can encompass, whether it be drawing, painting, found objects, printmaking, etc., as well as the many new, non-conventional ways of art making. As a teacher, I want to challenge my students to become independent, objective thinkers. I want them to be able to look at a piece of artwork and form their own opinions and critical analysis’ of the piece. I also want my students to see art as a viable learning tool, by which they may be able to gain a greater understanding of more traditional subject areas such as English and Math.
