Tutoring Style and/or Experience

I began tutoring my sophomore year in high school. At that time, tutoring was just a side job to make some money on the side. I soon began to realize how much I enjoy tutoring and watching my students understand the material that seemed impossible to them at one point. I soon became a Peer College Counselor at my high school, and assisted my peers in all aspects of the college application, standardized tests, course selections, requirement fulfillment, college selection, as well as assisting in psychological and financial counseling. I continued my position as a peer counselor when I attended UCLA. There, I was not only a Peer Counselor but also an academic tutor, volunteering my time to tutor my peers who were academically, socially, and/or economically disadvantaged. Again, my passion for tutoring grew through this position. I later became an Undergraduate Teacher Assistant in several Life Science courses at UCLA. Since then, I have participated in private tutoring for students ranging in age from elementary school to college. I also was a private college counselor for several high school students, assisting with one-on-one college application completion. Furthermore, though the UCLA City Lab program, I lead groups of underprivileged teens through a science education program, teaching my students laboratory techniques. I saw my efforts paying off immediately as I sparked the interest of my students. Since then, I have taken a break from tutoring to study for my Dental Admission Test, and I would now love to get back into the tutoring world. I believe I have the experience to be a great tutor, and it is very satisfying to see the development of each individual student while working with them throughout the year.
