Tutoring Style and/or Experience
Presently, I am a graduate teaching assistant and a masters student in marine biology at San Francisco State University. I teach Intro to Biology for biology majors to 25 undergraduates. I love my job and enjoy helping my students excel!
The best way to learn is through teaching others. I will teach my students the material and then encourage them to teach others. Verbal communication of knowledge helps the mind remember pertinant information. I encourage study groups outside of my tutoring, so that students can quiz one another and communicate their knowledge.
As a biology instructor, I understand the tediousness of learning biology and am prepared to take the time to encourage, excite, and challenge my students.
If your son, daughter, or even yourself are struggling with learning biology, I am prepared to pinpoint the material that you do not understand and formulate a solution for helping you learn the material.
Teaching and then asking questions with regards to what I just taught is my main stratedy, as well as verbal repetition. These two learning strategies worked best for me and helped me succeed as an undergraduate.
