I have a B.A. in English with High Honors from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a Master's degree in Education with a concentration in Foreign Language Education from Wayne State University. I am a certified teacher in secondary English and Spanish. I taught at a middle school in northern Florida and then for ten years with Birmingham Community Schools.

While with Birmingham Community Schools, I taught Spanish, English, Journalism, Yearbook and Newspaper. I attended numerous workshops for teachers of journalism, English and Spanish. Our high school's newspaper and yearbook were each awarded commendations each year, and our students also earned many individual awards, due in part to the expertise I imparted to my students.

I believe a teacher/student relationship must be dynamic, responsive and caring. I believe in active learning, in which both the teacher and student take part in the education process, but I feel strongly that a good teacher must tailor a lesson to a student's individual strengths. To this end, I incorporate a variety of techniques in my teaching toward differentiated instruction. I am responsible, reliable, devoted, and an exceptional teacher.
