Tutor Personal Information

I graduated from law school in December of 2010 and am currently working at a law firm . I ranked as the number one law student in my class out of 231 students after my second year of law school. I am on this website because I love to tutor. I am happy to tutor in any law subjects that I have completed, including first-year subjects. I also tutor in English (my major) and Spanish (my minor). My cumulative undergraduate g.p.a. is 4.0.

During my undergraduate years at Wayne State University, I was hired as a tutor by the Academic Success Center and I tutored several undergraduate students in English, Spanish, Philosophy, Chemistry, Critical Thinking, and Humanities. I have also done presentations on Group Tutoring for tutoring and supplemental instruction seminars. I have evaluated tutors and have been evaluated on my own tutoring strategies. During the duration of employment as a tutor, I also attended biweekly meetings in order to learn new tutoring strategies and sharpen the ones I already acquired.

I think that in order to effectively teach a student, it is very important to understand the student's learning style and teach him or her using a style that he or she is comfortable with. Learning to apply knowledge and learning how to self-test are important skills to practice and acquire during tutoring sessions. The Socratic method is a wonderful method to teach these skills. Ultimately, the goal of a tutoring session is not only to learn the material but also to learn the skills necessary to understand material without the help of a tutor in the future.
