Tutoring Style and/or Experience
I have five years of experience helping students in a variety of age levels and settings. I graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College with a degree in Writing, Literature and Publishing--but I also have a strong background in science and math, including algebra and calculus. Previously I've worked with middle school students, providing homework help and one-on-one sessions. I've also done college tutoring in English literature at my alma mater, Emerson College.
My knowledge runs the gamut from contemporary art to writing and math and science. I excelled at calculus in high school and have a strong background in algebra. I also am proficient at AP-level chemistry and biology, which I received high scores on when I was a student.
I like to work with students on-on-one but am also open to group tutoring. I also find it important to listen to pupils but hold them accountable for completing assignments. Due to the diverse backgrounds and ages of students that I have previously tutored, I enjoy working with all types of pupils, including those who are gifted or with special needs.
Moreover, I always make myself available to students by phone or email when they have questions. I realize that homework and test preparation can be challenging for many children and teenagers and am sympathetic to their needs. I make a conscious effort follow up with student questions within a matter of hours. They are also allowed to contact me in the evening for extra assistance as well.
In addition, I try to be flexible with scheduling and parents' needs. Doing extra sessions is never an issue, and if necessary, I'm open to reduced rates. If you think I would be a good fit for your child or need further information, please feel free to contact me. Thank you.
