Tutoring Style and/or Experience
I tutored students in Latin when I was in high school, and I have spent hours each week over the past two years in college tutoring in both Latin and writing. There is not a great demand for English (e.g., literature not the language) tutors, but English is my first major and a subject I enjoy working in. I have gotten great feedback from many students, and I love tutoring. I like to start by asking the student what he feels are his problem areas, and then planning lessons that target his anxieties as well as ensure that he has a firm foundation in basic knowledge of the subject. I assign homework between sessions so that we can measure our progress. I also maintain a positive attitude, because the mood of the sessions can greatly impact the student's ability to learn and gain confidence.
