I am a graduate student at NYU. (Dentistry). I have had 5 years of tutoring experience. I have tutored in a variety of subjects including Algebra 1, Pre-Algebra, Math K-8, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry and Algebra 2. Through many years of tutoring, I have learned that it does not only depend on how much knowledge a tutor knows of a certain subject, but it also depends on his/her ability to throroughly and clearly explain the materials to the students. I certainly have both qualities. The subjects that I list to tutor in are the ones that I feel very comfortable teaching because I have spent many years studying them and have mastered all of the materials. I have once gone through what these students are going through right now, so I know what I can do to help them strive in their courses. I still remember all the tricks that I have used while studying for these subjects, which I will be gladly to share with my tutees, helping them understand the materials better. I tend to do more than what is usually expected of me, such as I usually give students extra worksheets and tests in complement to their in-class work, which will allow them to further understand what they are studying. Once I am given a certain assignment, I put all of my efforts into completing it in the best manner that I can manage. So I would try my best to help these students, teaching them all that I’ve learned so that they can succeed in their courses themselves.
