Tutor Personal Information
Tutoring Style and/or Experience
I have recently moved to Maine and am looking to start tutoring locally.
I have a great deal of teaching and tutoring experience. My master's is in Marine Science and Technology and during that time I taught for 3 years as part of National Science Foundation Programs which allowed me to work with students in the Boston area from kindergarten to high school focusing on hands on science. I have a letter of eligibility to teach in the state of New Hampshire.
I have worked for several academic and tutoring companies as well as independently, teaching SAT prep courses, academic reading, history, english, literature, biology, chemistry, algebra, geometry, etc. I have worked with college level students most specifically in the sciences including college level chemistry.
My most useful qualities as a tutor is my patience, and ability to work with many learning styles. I am able to explain concepts in multiple ways. I have worked with a number of students with learning obstacles. I also make myself readily available to students through e-mail and try to provide additional online resources to help students learn.
I work from 8 - 4:30 and am available Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Friday evenings, as well as likely availability on weekends, especially Sundays.
I am hoping to work with students either in the Boothbay region where I work, or between there and the Bath area, where I live.
