Tutoring Style and/or Experience
With my background as a teaching assistant and lab instructor in Biology, I have seen that often struggling students are disinterested in the subject or think it doesn't apply to them. However, with such students I have also seen that giving them opportunities to be curious and to explore a topic in a way more applicable to their interests has improved their motivation and performance significantly. I believe students can be guided through science problems and concepts in such a way that they discover it for themselves and thereby retain the information better. In tutoring sessions, I strive to construct analogies that the student can relate to and to generate scenarios or problems for them to solidify the material. I greatly enjoy tutoring and aiding students in becoming self-sufficient in their learning.
