Tutoring Style and/or Experience
I am a teaching associate and doctoral candidate at Fordham University and have been teaching college students at Fordham's campuses in the Bronx and Lincoln Center (Manhattan) for several years now. You can read anonymous comments about me from some of my past students at http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=1225521 and http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=1297916 . Other testimonials from my college students are given below, transcribed from their anonymous handwritten faculty evaluations at the end of each semester. My wife and I live in upper Manhattan, and you and your student are welcome to come to my apartment, and I am also willing to travel to a convenient place for you anywhere in the five boroughs. I can tutor any age and practically any subject. If someone else would be better suited to helping your child than I would be, I will tell you that candidly and without hesitation. I will not waste your time or money or take chances with your child's prospects. On the subject of money, if you make contact with me so that we can talk about your child's particular situation, you will learn that my rates are reasonable and affordable: almost certainly the services of a good tutor are within your means.
Even a one-hour tutoring session at regular weekly intervals has the potential to make a big difference. Sometimes the biggest barrier to success is how hard it feels just to get going. The most important first step toward achieving your resolution for your student's academic success is to make contact and establish a relationship with a good tutor. We can correspond by e-mail, talk on the telephone, or meet in person to figure out what the next step should be. Perhaps your child just needs a little extra instruction or motivation for a particular subject for a week or two. Or perhaps your child would benefit from regular sessions ranging from one hour per week up to almost daily sessions of two hours, to work on basic skills or acquire advanced learning techniques, to build good habits and self-discipline or to master all the details of a certain subject, or anything like that. A relationship with a good tutor gives you access to a valuable resource that you can call upon at different times in your student's school career, according to his own needs, abilities, and changing circumstances.
