Tutoring Style and/or Experience
I would be incredibly happy to be of help to anyone struggling with science, math, language, or simply in need of a good mentor or some encouragement and life coaching.
I have two Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Cellular Biology from the University of Colorado Denver, and have just finished my medical school applications for the upcoming year. Whenever I am not actively studying, I try to think of ways to keep my knowledge sharp while making it useful to someone else as well. Tutoring serves that purpose exceptionally well, and has thus always been a passion of mine. As an undergraduate at UCD I tutored college-level math, and most recently I have been privately tutoring highschool-level chemistry and biology.
Professionally, I have been in clinical and basic science research for several years. With that experience came a stern sense of responsibility, discipline, impeccable organizational skills, a degree of appreciation for human struggle and certainly quite the inclination for helping those in need. My volunteering endeavors led me through rehabilitation medicine to a private mental health clinic, both of which deeply engrained me with empathy, patience, the importance of follow-through and most importantly – an open mind.
I believe I am exceptionally well-equipped socially, with a refined sense of personal needs and tactful interpersonal communication -- some of the strongest points of a successful tutor. I hope my expertise in physical and social sciences can be of interest to you, and look forward to our future acquaintance!
