Positive reinforcement.
I am a non-lecturing type and like to include the student in the session as much as possible. I like to draw lots of diagrams, which the students are obviously allowed to keep at the end.

First example problems are worked, then the normal problem is worked so the student can solve that problem on their own, this way the answer is not given directly.

I am currently pursing my graduate degree at ASU in biochemistry.

Conceptual development usually elicits some form of a short quiz at the end of the session to determine if information was retained.
