Tutoring Style and/or Experience
I have taught Latin and English in a Christian school for eleven years - 8th grade through high school. I was head of the English department for seven years and developed and taught AP English for four years. Currently I teach homeschool students (Latin, AP English Literature, rhetoric, composition). I have tutored Latin, English(literature, reading, comprehension, composition), ESL, general elementary subjects and college sociology/anthropology and physics and with excellent results. I am an affable, energetic, effective and enthusiastic tutor. I encourage and motivate students to achieve and exceed expectations, using affirmation positive, encouraging words. The quote that describes my love for learning and teaching is by William Butler Yeats... "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." I desire to light that fire of brilliance and confidence in students whom I tutor.
